‘The Government
Inspector‘- a comedy by Nikolai Gogol, adapted by Ann Blake.
Rehearsals are well under way for this
year’s Transition Year production of
‘The Government Inspector’ with over 50
students taking to the stage under the watchful eye of directors Ann Blake and
Niamh Bowen.
The Government Inspector is a raucous comedy centred on mistaken
identity in a small rural town in Russia.
The main character Khlestakov is a roguish, hapless visitor who
inadvertently causes a stir when the influential people of the town believe him
to be the visiting government inspector. The antics of the powerful and rich in
covering up the corruption of the town results in many humorous twists and
turns.
Expect fine musical moments and bad romance, in a town populated
by nosey post mistresses, incompetent school principals, an arrogant mayor, his
vacuous wife and children in this colourful dramatisation performed in the
evocative surroundings of Dance Limerick.
Performance dates are Thursday January
30th and Friday January 31st 2020.
Show starts at 8pm.
Tickets are available from the school
office 061-451447. Adults €15/Students €10.
